Death of a professor

It is just as well to begin this new year’s teaching on a lighter note: in the clip (from the musical “My Fair Lady”, based on G B Shaw‘s play “Pygmalion”), we witness Eliza Doolittle’s imagined revenge on Prof Henry Higgins, an incredibly vain and selfish scholar and educator, who has set himself the goal to teach Eliza speak “proper English”. Prior to this scene, he has tortured her (again) because her pronunciation of vowels is … well, less than perfect (she is supposed to speak with a Cockney accent). To all those students, who may feel tortured by me in the coming year: enjoy!
